Spring Concert at Poole Salvation Army

Now 4th in the 2nd Section

Having come 5th in the south west areas contest in March 2022 playing Goff Richard’s Aeronauts, the band now lies 4th overall in the 2nd section. Not bad for our first contest back in the 2nd section.
Our next event is a concert in May at Poole Savlation Army.

WINNERS of the South West Area 3rd Section 2020

For the second time in a row, the band was drawn to play first in a contest, and Sunday 15th March 2020 Poole Borough Band came first in the south west area contest in Torquay. The test piece was Endurance by Andrew Baker, whom some band members met at the national finals in Cheltenham the previous September. We await confirmation, but the band expects to be promoted to the second section, and again, have been invited to play at the National Finals in September. A lot of shopping was done at the trade stands and there is a lot of new music to try out, so we will have to see if the current pandemic crisis allows for the summer programme of events to go ahead.

Huge thank you’s to our Musical Director, Lloyd Bartlett, and our Band Secretary, Polly Dear, for all their consistent, hard work that enables the band to take part in contests and to keep making such marvelous progress. Thank you to Former Musical Director, Martin Portman for taking the time to visit and listen to the band, and for his advice. Finally, thank you to every member of the band for making playing with the band the fun and lovely experience it always is.
